RI MOFW is pleased to provide scholarships ranging from $250 – $3,000 annually.
Awardees may include MOFW members, immediate family, grand-children and great-grand-children.
To be considered, please note the following qualifications and requirements:
- Applicant must be one of the following:
a. a member in good standing of the Rhode Island Commandery of the Military Order of Foreign Wars of the United States
b. the wife, child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of member in good standing
c. the widow, child, grandchild, or great grand-child of a deceased member, who was a member of good standing at the time of his or her death. - Applicant must be nominated by a member of the Rhode Island Commandery in good standing. The name and signature of that member is required on the application form.
- First, applicant must be a high-school graduate (or GED equivalent).
Then, applicants can be high-school students entering college or freshmen, sophomores, or juniors presently enrolled in college or vocational/technical school or graduate students. - High-school students applying for a RI Commandery MOFW scholarship must attach a letter of acceptance from an accredited college or vocational/technical school (award can be conditional, dependent upon acceptance).
- Applicant must possess a 2.5 Grade Point Average (GPA) or higher on a 4.0 system.
- Unsuccessful applicants may re-apply.
- Completed applications must be submitted by the second Tuesday in March of each year to be considered.
- Applicants must furnish most recent copies of academic transcripts. All academic records must be official as stamped, sealed, and certified by the school.
Applications are to be postmarked no later than the 15th of April. Failure to furnish all information, postmarked no later than will result in no consideration for a scholarship.
